Frank s 1.6 to 1.8 coil swap. If your 1.6 has more than 12 psi boost or you spin it faster than 8000 rpm then you probably need an ignition upgrade.
The only thing I would emphasis on this page (since I have also added the DIS to my Miata) is that, even though the schematic shows it, the shop manual is somewhat misleading in that you need to run a separate wire to the +12v of the coils since the blue wire is there to power the ignitor and the blue wire running to the coil pack is actually tee'd further up the wiring harness and is not the same wire. It's amazing how similar the Mk1 Toyota MR2 (85-89) is with the 1.6 Miata. Take a look at Mr2.com for tech articles and get some great ideas. Miata.Net Garage How to's on engine and suspension upgrades.

MazdaTrix differential and transmission interchange page The Miata transmission guts are nearly the same as all NA RX7's (with the major exception of gear ratio's) and the guts of the 1994+ Miata rear is practically the same as the 1984/85, 1986-91 NA RX7 rear. MazdaTrix has a wonderful interchange page for differentials and tranmissions.
